Travail scientifique :La
recherche scientifique s'inscrit dans un programme européen (7PCRD :
Green Oil : projet ICON) visant à l'obtention d'acides gras non-usuels
dans des plantes non agroalimentaires.
Dans ce cadre, le travail consistera à modifier, par voie génétique,
le profil en acides gras des plantes de façon à induire la synthèse
et l'accumulation de ces acides gras inhabituels dans graines. Dans un
premier temps, il sera nécessaire de vérifier la spécificité de
certaines enzymes sélectionnées dans des plantes productrices
d’acides inhabituels. Il faudra ensuite de cloner les gènes candidats
dans des vecteurs d'expression puis de tester leur fonctionnalité dans
des systèmes bactériens (levure : inductible) ou végétaux modèles (Arabidopsis
thaliana). La fonctionnalité de protéines résultantes sera réalisée
par détection des protéines synthétisées (Western), de leur activité
enzymatique et de leur spécificité et sélectivité vis à vis de la
prise en charge de substrats inhabituels. L’identification les
produits de la réaction (nouveaux acides gras, esters, …) sera réalisée
par utilisation de techniques de chromatographie et de spectrométrie de
masse (CPG, GC-MS, LC-MS, GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS, …).
Après transformation, plusieurs lignées cellulaires transgéniques (50
T0) seront analysées afin de sélectionner celles qui présentent un
profil d'acides gras modifiés.

Euro
Fed Lipid announces the Young
Lipid Scientists Award 2008. The prize is granted to applicants, who
are not older than 35 years, for distinguished research in the fields of
lipid science and technology. The deadline for applications is 31 March
2008.

award aimed at encouraging excellence in lipid research; It is worth
$5000, and will be awarded biannually to a researcher in the early phase
(less than 10 years since graduation) of his or her career. Application

Awards 2009
To honour distinguished persons in the fields of Lipid Science and
Technology, Euro Fed Lipid has decided in 2002 to sponsor the
“European Lipid Science Award” and the “European Lipid Technology
Award”. We are starting now the search for the 2009 award winners. The
awards will be presented to the recipients in person at the 7th Euro Fed
Lipid Congress, 18-21 October 2009, in Graz, Austria. Each award
consists of an award certificate, a complimentary registration for the
Euro Fed Lipid congress, and reimbursement of travel and accommodation
expenses or organisation of travel and accommodation by Euro Fed Lipid.
According to the rules a nominee must have given outstanding
contribution(s) to the development of science or technology in the
fields of lipids, fats and oils and must be recognised for such
distinguished achievements in the community. The prospective recipient
must also agree to be present for acceptance of the award and to deliver
an award address at the designated time and place.
Nominations can be made up to 31 March 2008 to the Euro Fed Lipid office
(Euro Fed Lipid, P.O. Box 90 04 40, 60444 Frankfurt, Germany) by Euro
Fed Lipid members, members of the Search and Nomination Committee (SNC),
societies in membership, and former recipients of the Award (see list
below). Self-nomination is not accepted.
Nominations must include a summary of each nominee’s accomplishments,
his/her resume and a list of publications and/or other
achievements. The Euro Fed Lipid office sends all materials to the SNC
for candidate selection. After consultation with the Euro Fed Lipid
Council of Management the Euro Fed Lipid President decides on the
recipient at the 6th Euro Fed Lipid Congress, 6-10 September 2008 in
Athens, Greece.
