The GERLI society has an international influence through its annual international lipid meeting, the membership of colleagues from many countries attending this meeting and its affiliation to EuroFed Lipid. We have often been asked by colleagues from European and other countries whether their PhD students could apply to the GERLI PhD Prize awarded every year and highlighted by an oral presentation at the GERLI international lipid meeting.
So far, this was not possible since the GERLI PhD prize is by definition awarded to young researchers who have carried out their PhD work in a French laboratory (independently of their nationality).
However, since the GERLI society is supported by more than one-third of international colleagues attending the annual meeting, the GERLI scientific board has decided to launch in 2026 an International-GERLI PhD Prize, in addition to the national GERLI PhD Prize.

The International GERLI PhD prize is offered to reward a PhD thesis work in the field of lipid science.

It is not intended to compete with other existing awards such as the European young lipid scientist award from EuroFed Lipid, but will extend the possibilities to recognize young lipid scientists from any country and highlight their work.
